MEET  DR. YAWEI CHEN

Dr. Chen is a surgeon that is trained in both Periodontics, Dental Implant Surgery and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Chen received her D.D.S. at National Yang-Ming University in Taipei with ranked number one in the entire graduating class. Then, she completed a 5-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training in Taipei Veterans General Hospital, one of the top three medical centers in northern Taiwan and became Board Certified in the Taiwan Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Chen was promoted to attending oral maxillofacial Surgeon and treated ambulatory and hospitalized patients in the hospital.

When Dr. Chen was practicing surgery in Taiwan, she performed mostly major surgeries such as trauma (jawbone fracture), orthognathic surgery, tumors of oral cavity. She has years of experience on taking care of cancer patients who need multi-specialty teamwork to achieve better outcomes. In addition to clinical works, Dr. Chen served as an assistant professor at her alma mater, lecturing oral surgeries and head and neck anatomy. Dr. Chen also dedicated extensively in clinical and translational research and contributed a lot of scientific articles in the field of oral cancer, hence received a PhD degree in Clinical Medicine.

Dr. Chen moved to the United States and returned to University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry for a 3-year Periodontics and Dental Implant training and earned Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology after graduation. Dr. Chen then relocated to the PNW region in 2021. She is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), International Team for Implantology (ITI), and Taiwan Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
